Zia

4.6(11,569)out of 5 on GoogleOpen · until 23:59📍 Lagoudi Zia, Kos

Zia is a small mountain village on the slopes of Mount Dikaios, above the north coast of Kos, and the island's best-known sunset spot. From its terraces the view runs down over the plain to Tigaki, Marmari and, on clear evenings, the islands of Pserimos and Kalymnos.

It is also no secret. In summer, coaches arrive in the late afternoon and the single lane fills with souvenir stalls and taverna touts. Come an hour or two before sunset to walk the upper lanes and find a table with a view, or visit in the morning if you want the village to yourself. Zia is also the starting point for hikes towards the summit of Dikaios; start early, carry water and wear real shoes.
