Golden Beach, Chrysi Akti in Greek, is a long stretch of golden sand on the south-east coast of Paros, near Drios, and one of the island’s two most-reviewed beaches. The shallow, sandy seabed and plenty of room make it an easy family beach on calm days, with sunbeds, tavernas and places to stay behind the sand.
It is best known, though, as a windsurfing beach. The bay catches the summer north winds cleanly, and water-sports schools operate along the shore; on meltemi afternoons the sea is full of sails and the surface is lively. If you want flat water, come in the morning or pick a calm day. The drive from Parikia takes around half an hour, and Naoussa a little more; buses serve the south-east coast in summer.
