Kalamos is on the volcanic south coast of Milos, east of Agia Kiriaki, and it is one of the places where the island's geology is impossible to ignore: sulphur-stained rock, fumaroles venting warm gas, and sand that is hot underfoot in places. It is undeveloped — no sunbeds, no canteen, no shade — and the last part of the approach is a rough track. Come for the strangeness and the snorkelling along the rocks, bring everything you need, and keep away from the vents.
