Kamares beach
Kamares is the port of Sifnos and also its most-reviewed beach: a wide stretch of fine sand at the head of a long, deep bay on the west coast, with the ferry quay at one end and a row of cafés, tavernas and rooms behind the sand. It is the first thing most visitors see of the island, and the last.
The water is shallow for a long way out, which makes it one of the best beaches on Sifnos for small children, and there are trees and some sunbeds for shade. It is not the wildest or the prettiest swim on the island, but it is practical: perfect for the hours before an evening ferry or for a first afternoon before exploring. Buses link Kamares with Apollonia and the other villages in summer.
