Kolympethres Beach

Kolymbithres is a series of small sandy coves on the western shore of Naoussa Bay, divided by smooth granite boulders that wind and sea have worn into rounded, sculptural shapes. It is the most photographed beach on Paros and the most-reviewed, and the rocks are the reason: you swim between them, climb them and lie on them.

The water is shallow, clear and usually calm, since the bay is sheltered, which makes it easy for children. The downside is space. The coves are small, the organised sections fill quickly and by midday in August it is crowded. Arrive early, or come later in the afternoon when the light on the rocks is warmer. In summer a small boat crosses from Naoussa harbour, which saves the hunt for parking.
