Myrtos Beach

4.7(6,648)out of 5 on Google📍 Kefalonia

Myrtos, on the north-west coast of Kefalonia, is the beach on most postcards of the island: a long arc of dazzling white pebbles at the foot of steep cliffs, with water that turns from turquoise to deep blue within a few metres. The best overall view is from the lay-bys on the road above, near the village of Divarata.

A landslide hit the cliffs in July 2026; the beach remained open, but keep well away from the base of the cliffs and follow any signs on the day. The access road down is steep with tight bends, and parking at the bottom fills in high season. The pebbles shelve quickly into deep water and waves can be strong when the wind is up, so it is less suited to small children. Come in the afternoon, when the light is best.
