Porto Timoni beach
Porto Timoni is Corfu's double beach: two small pebble bays lying back to back on either side of a narrow isthmus below the hilltop village of Afionas, in the north-west of the island. One side usually stays calm while the other takes the wind, and from the path above the pair looks almost too neat to be real.
There is no road down. Leave the car in Afionas and follow the footpath, roughly 20 to 30 minutes downhill on rough, stony ground and noticeably harder on the way back up, or take a boat from Agios Georgios Pagon. There are no facilities, so bring water, food and shade. Wear proper shoes, not flip-flops, and avoid the midday climb in July and August.
