Tolo is the busiest beach resort near Nafplio, about a quarter of an hour's drive away: a long strip of fine sand in front of a village of hotels, tavernas and apartments, facing the small islands of Romvi and Daskalio across the bay. The water is shallow and usually calm, which makes it a favourite with families.
Much of the beach is organised, with sunbeds, umbrellas and water sports, and in July and August it gets crowded, especially at weekends when Greek families come down from Athens and Argos. Parking in the village is limited. Tolo works well as a base if you want a beach holiday with day trips to Nafplio, Epidaurus and Mycenae; for a quieter swim, try Kastraki beach nearby, below ancient Asini.
