Tsambika Beach
Tsambika is a long, broad sweep of golden sand on the east coast of Rhodes, between Kolymbia and Archangelos, backed by low dunes and watched over by the whitewashed Tsambika monastery on the headland above. The water stays shallow for a good distance, which makes it one of the easiest beaches on the island for families.
Most of the beach is organised, with sunbeds, umbrellas and snack bars, but there is room to spread a towel further along. The access road drops steeply from the main coastal road and parking fills by late morning in July and August. For the view, climb the long flight of steps to the monastery early, before the heat; women traditionally make the pilgrimage there to pray for a child.
