Tsigrado is a tiny cove of pale sand on the south coast of Milos, enclosed by eroded cliffs and filled with astonishingly clear water. What makes it famous is the way in: from the clifftop you climb down through a narrow cleft in the rock using a rope and a wooden ladder.
The descent is short but awkward, so wear proper shoes, keep your hands free with a small backpack and skip it if you are unsteady or carrying small children. The beach itself is very small, with no facilities or shade, and it fills up fast in summer; early morning is the time to go. Excursion boats also stop offshore for swimming. Combine it with Firiplaka, the larger organised beach next door, where there is space, shade and parking.
