Anemomilos is a small hotel on the edge of Chora, built along the top of the cliffs that make Folegandros’s capital so dramatic, and one of the best-reviewed places to stay on the island. It is a long-established address, and its rooms look out over the sheer drop to the Aegean rather than over the village.
The position gives you the best of both sides of Folegandros: open sea views and silence at night, yet the squares and tavernas of Chora are a few minutes’ walk away, so you will not need a car for dinner. The flip side of a cliff-top site is wind, which can be strong in July and August. Rooms are few and the season is short, so book well in advance, and arrange your transfer from Karavostasis port with the hotel.
