Bouboulina Museum

4.8(2,449)out of 5 on GoogleClosed · Sunday from 10:00📍 Spetses

The Bouboulina Museum is the family mansion of Laskarina Bouboulina, the Spetsiot shipowner and naval commander who became the best-known heroine of the Greek War of Independence of 1821. It stands just behind the Dapia, the main harbour, and is still in the hands of her descendants.

Visits are by guided tour at set times through the day, and the guides tell her story with real verve: two widowhoods, a fortune spent on ships and arms, the siege of Nafplio and a violent death. The house itself, with carved wooden ceilings, family furniture and weapons, is worth seeing for its own sake. Tours fill up in summer, so check the schedule on arrival and put your name down early.
