The village everyone remembers: a tiny horseshoe harbour in the north-east, houses in ochre and pink stacked up the slope, three ruined windmills on the point and yachts tied stern-to along the quay. It survived the 1953 earthquake better than most of the island, so the buildings are genuinely old. There are four or five tavernas and nothing else to do, which is the whole idea.
