Kleftiko
Kleftiko is a cluster of white rock pillars, arches and sea caves off the remote south-west coast of Milos. Its name recalls the pirates who are said to have hidden their ships among the rocks, and the scene has become the classic image of a Milos boat day: anchored yachts, swimmers drifting through the arches, water shading from emerald to deep blue.
In practice it is reached by sea. Sailing boats and motor cruises leave from Adamas and Pollonia in summer, usually as a full or half day with swimming stops, and every trip depends on the wind; on strong meltemi days boats change route or stay in port, so keep a spare day in your plans. Bring a mask for exploring the caves, and be careful around the rocks when many boats are moored in the bay at midday.
