North of Myrina the coast turns volcanic and at Agios Ioannis great slabs of black rock lie over the sand like roof tiles — one taverna has built itself under an overhang, which is the picture everyone takes. Swimming is off sand between the rocks, the water is clear and deep quickly, and the snorkelling around the slabs is the best near town. Go for lunch and stay.
