Golden Beach, as the name translates, is the broad sandy bay between Gavrio and Batsi and the most comfortable swim on Andros: shallow, sheltered from the north wind by the headland, sunbeds and a taverna or two behind, and a bus that stops on the main road above. It fills up in August with Athenian families who have been coming for decades, and empties again by the end of September.
