Kastani is a sandy cove on the west coast of Skopelos, between Panormos and Milia, set in a green bowl of pine-covered hills. It was one of the filming locations for Mamma Mia!, with the beach scenes shot here, and it remains one of the island's most popular swimming spots.
The beach is organised in summer, with sunbeds, umbrellas and a beach bar, and the water is clear and inviting, with sand underfoot, which is less common on this pebbly island. It is reached by road, with a short final stretch down to the cove; parking is limited in high season, so arrive before late morning. West-facing, it is also a fine spot to stay on for the sunset.
