Paralia Voutoumi

Voutoumi, on the east coast of Antipaxos, is the most-reviewed beach in our Paxos list and the one most people picture when they think of these islands: a crescent of white pebbles and sand, backed by green slopes, with water so clear and pale that boats seem to float above the seabed.

There is no road from Paxos, of course. Taxi boats and excursion boats run over from Gaios and Lakka in summer, and many visitors rent a small motorboat. By late morning in July and August the beach and the water in front of it fill with swimmers and anchored boats, so arrive early or stay until the day trippers leave. A taverna up the slope serves lunch in season; bring water and shade, and check the last boat back.
