This middle stretch of the west coast is the beach half of Skopelos. Panormos sits in a deep, almost enclosed bay — calm, shallow at the edge, with a small marina and a couple of tavernas on the water, and the island's main cluster of beach hotels above it. Milia, a few minutes north, is the long one: a wide pebble arc facing a wooded islet, with pines coming most of the way down to the water. Kastani between them is the prettiest and the smallest, which means it fills.
Because the bays face west and the island's spine blocks the north wind, this coast stays swimmable on days when the open sea is rough. That matters in July and August.
Neo Klima, also called Elios, is the village end of it — not beautiful, built to rehouse people after an earthquake, but with honest tavernas and the island's best-value rooms. The walk down from it to Hovolo, a cove under soft white rock formations, is short and worth doing before the day-boats arrive.
