Exomvourgo
Εξώμβουργο
A bare rock spike of 641 metres in the middle of the island, fortified by the Venetians and held by them until 1715 — longer than any other Venetian possession in the Aegean. What survives is the shell: gateways, cisterns, church foundations and a scatter of walls across the summit. The path up starts near Xinara and takes well under an hour at a steady pace. On a clear day the view takes in Mykonos, Delos, Syros and Andros at once.
