Sanctuary of Poseidon and Amphitrite

A low field of foundations behind Kionia beach: the remains of a Hellenistic sanctuary to Poseidon and his wife Amphitrite that drew visitors from across the Aegean, with an altar, a long stoa, baths and a fountain house still readable in the stone. Columns from here gave the beach its name — kionia means columns. It is small and unroofed and takes fifteen minutes, but it sits right by the sand, so there is no reason to skip it.
