The limestone massif filling the western end of Samos, rising straight out of the sea above Marathokampos to a little over 1,400 m. The usual route up starts at the monastery of Evangelistria and takes four to five hours return on a steep, exposed path with no water. It is a real mountain day — early start, two litres each, and a check of the forecast, because cloud sits on the summit even when the coast is clear.
