Palaiopoli
Παλαιόπολη
The ancient capital of Andros, built down a very steep hillside on the west coast, with terraces, walls and a theatre still traceable among the olive trees. The harbour breakwater is still there too — underwater, visible from above on a calm day. A flight of around a thousand steps drops from the modern village to the sea, which is the direct way in and a serious climb back out.
