Ancient Aigiali
Αρχαία Αιγιάλη
The northern one of the island's three ancient cities, on the slope below Tholaria above the bay of Aegiali. There is less standing here than at Minoa — wall lines, terraces, cut blocks reused in field boundaries — but the position explains the choice, looking straight down the only sheltered anchorage on this coast. Easy to take in on the walk between Aegiali and Tholaria.
