Bourtzi of Karystos
Μπούρτζι Καρύστου
A square tower standing alone on the Karystos seafront, built in the fourteenth century by the Venetians to guard the harbour and later used by the Ottomans. Much of the stone in it was taken from ancient buildings. It is right in the middle of the town's evening promenade, lit at night, and takes five minutes to look at and an hour to sit beside.
