Thermal Springs of Loutra Edipsou
Ιαματικές Πηγές Λουτρών Αιδηψού
Hot sulphurous water has been coming out of the ground here since long before anyone wrote it down: Strabo and Plutarch mention the springs, Sulla came for his gout, and the Roman baths are still visible. Modern Edipsos is a faded belle-époque spa town with hotels that have their own thermal pools, and along the shore north of the harbour the hot water runs over the rocks straight into the sea, where anyone can sit in it for nothing. Winter is the real season.
