Natural History Museum of the Aegean
Μουσείο Φυσικής Ιστορίας Αιγαίου
In the village of Mytilinioi, and far more interesting than the name suggests: the hills around here have produced one of Europe's richest beds of late Miocene mammal fossils, and the museum displays the skulls and skeletons of the horses, giraffes, rhinoceroses and sabre-toothed cats that lived on Samos nine million years ago. Good with children, and a sensible rainy-day or heat-of-the-afternoon stop.
