Mount Fengari
Φεγγάρι
At 1,611 m Fengari — the Moon — is the highest mountain in the northern Aegean, and in the Iliad it is where Poseidon sits to watch the Trojan War. The usual ascent starts at Therma and takes most of a day there and back, over granite scree with no water after the first hour and no shade at all. It is a serious walk, not a stroll: start at dawn, carry two or more litres each, and turn back if cloud comes down, because the summit boulder field is easy to get lost in.
