Rotunda of Arsinoe II
Θόλος Αρσινόης Β΄
The circular foundation at the heart of the sanctuary belonged to the largest covered round building known from the Greek world, dedicated by Arsinoe II, queen of Egypt, in the third century BC. Only the base survives, but the diameter — about twenty metres — is easy to read on the ground and gives a sense of the scale the Ptolemies were building at on a small Aegean island.
