Fonias Beach
Παραλία Φονιά
Where the Fonias torrent reaches the sea there is a strip of grey pebbles with the ruined Genoese tower standing over it — the car park for the waterfall walk doubles as a beach. Most people swim here afterwards, to rinse the dust off, and the contrast is the point: fresh water in the gorge, salt water fifty metres away. No facilities beyond the seasonal canteen at the trailhead, no shade, and the north coast swell can be lively.
