The one proper sandy beach on Samothraki, a wide pale strip at the bottom of the south coast with a taverna behind it and sunbeds in season. Getting there is part of it: the last stretch of road from Lakkoma is unsurfaced and slow, and in summer a small boat runs from Kamariotissa instead, which is the pleasanter way to arrive. There is almost no natural shade, the open sea means waves on a southerly, and the chapel of Panagia Krimniotissa sits on the cliff above.
